OBOE TEACHER

José Luis studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Tess Miller and Celia Nicklin. In 2007 he
graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded with the Principal’s Prize. He then studied at the
Karajan Akademie with Jonathan Kelly and played with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
He has been guest principal oboe in prestigious orchestras such us the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra,
Mahler Chamber Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra
of Europe, NDR Sinfonieorchester, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and has played under the baton of
Gustavo Dudamel, Paavo Järvi, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding and Daniele Gatti and Christian
Thielemann among others.
Jose Luis has recorded for different labels such as Harmonia Mundi, Deutsche Gramophon, Sony, Pentatone
and RCA and has had the oportunity to play in concert halls all over the world such as, Suntory Hall,
Carnegie Hall, Sidney Opera House, Musikverein Wien, Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, Seoul Arts Centre,
Philharmonie Berlin, Teatro San Carlo, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Royal Albert Hall etc.
José Luis has taught at the Mahler Akademie in Bolzano, has given masterclasses in Japan, Spain , Italy,
UK and Argentina and is professor at the Baremboin-Said Foundation in Seville.
Since 2008 he is principal oboe of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, tutor of the
Orchester Akademie and plays since 2020 principal oboe with the Bayreuther Festspielorchester.
